Music Box School

Let the magic of music enrich your life!

Josh is a multi-talented musician fluent in a wide variety of styles.

He has played guitar and bass guitar in rock and pop bands,

gospel ensembles, jazz combos, blues and R&B outfits, high-profile cover bands and pretty much any other musical situation you can think of.

Having first picked up a guitar at age 9, Josh immediately developed a love for improvisation that would bear a significant impact on his identity as an instrumentalist.  The sweet sounds of blues guitar filled his childhood, while jazz harmony and classical theory expanded his palette and shaped his style.  By high school, he had become active in rock groups and jazz ensembles, winning statewide soloist awards and participating in complementary clinics with the likes of Randy Brecker and Peter Erskine.  His study also extended to private lessons with renowned jazz guitarists Vic Juris and Mordy Ferber.

Josh holds a B.M. from New York University's Steinhardt School of Music where he studied music performance and audio engineering, quickly becoming immersed in the NYC scene as both a session musician and recording engineer.  He has worked and performed with world-renowned artists such as Cody Simpson, Michelle Branch and Chris Pennie, touring in both the U.S. and over 20 different European cities. Residing in Brooklyn, Josh continues to perform in some of NYC's most prestigious concert venues and reception halls.

Having taught since his early teenage years, Josh greatly values the mutual learning process that takes place between student and teacher.  He is highly passionate about sharing his musical knowledge with any and all that wish to learn, and has a great deal of experience with students of all ages and levels.  His teaching style is based on establishing proper technique and muscle memory, expanding musical vocabulary through technical exercises, ear training and reading, and most importantly, learning the music you love, having fun and staying inspired!
