Amanda Wai has been involved in music since she began piano studies at the age of 6. Her musical passion led her to perform in several youth competitions at Steinway Hall from 1999-2000. Later on she won her high school concerto competition and performed a movement of Beethoven's 4th piano concerto with the Frank Sinatra High School Orchestra. During that time, she was also selected to be a member of the Music Access Project (MAP) program at the Bloomingdale School of Music. As a scholarship student of MAP, she studied with Judith Olson, a Juilliard graduate and active performer in New York City. There she won the Vincent Wagner Concerto Competition which gave her the chance to perform with a chamber orchestra at Christ and St. Stephen's Church. She also received gold and silver medals in Bloomindale's piano performance division, which granted her the Mu Phi Epsilon scholarship.

Aside from being a pianist, Amanda is also a composer, violinist, and choral member. During a study abroad program in Italy, some of her original pieces were performed in the auditorium of Conservatorio di Musica di Perugia. She was a volunteer violinist in the Aaron Copland Chamber Orchestra under the direction of Charles Neidich. She has also completed a choral conducting internship with Dr. Sandra Babb in PSIS 499.
Amanda received her Bachelor’s Degree in Piano Performance from the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. She is currently a student of Dr. Donald Pirone.
