Brian Ford

Brian Ford is a sought-after violinist/ pianist performing and teaching in the New York City area. He has performed with Orchestra Modern and Utopia Opera, and is concertmaster of Litha Symphony and Vocal Productions NYC.  He studies with Cynthia Roberts of the Julliard School. Previously, he studied violin performance with Kevin Lawrence at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. 

Before moving to New York, he was a member of the Winston-Salem Symphony for three concert seasons and built a private studio for students of all ages. Additionally, he coached chamber music groups served as a judge for regional youth orchestra auditions and competitions. 

  He also performed with the Carolina Philharmonic, the Fayetteville Symphony, and the Long Bay Symphony. He coached the Winston-Salem Youth Symphony and served as concertmaster for two community orchestras. He performed with the Long Bay Youth Symphony as winner of a concerto competition. At UNCSA, he performed with the “nu” contemporary ensemble, directed by Ransom Wilson, and collaborated with internationally renowned choreographer Brenda Daniels for a series of performances of J.S. Bach’s Chaconne.  He has performed on Baroque violin in the Magnolia Baroque Festival and in master classes given by Cynthia Roberts and Robert Mealy during the Clarion/Collegium festival in New York.  

  Ford’s teaching approach is to help students become sensitive to sound, listen with their hearts, and express through the instrument what can’t be expressed with words. He believes the role of the teacher is to guide each student in finding his own way of using the instrument for expression, thus finding his own voice.
