Christopher Norman
GUITAR TEACHER, DRUM TEACHER, PIANO TEACHER
Multi-Instrumentalist | Music Educator | Audio Engineer
Christopher Norman is a dedicated music educator, talented multi-instrumentalist, and experienced audio engineer. His passion for music began early in church, where he started playing drums at the age of seven. By nine, he had added piano to his repertoire, and by fourteen, he began exploring the guitar—laying the foundation for his versatile musical journey.
With over 15 years of teaching experience, Christopher has worked with students of all ages and skill levels. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music from Brooklyn College and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Music Education at Boston University.
Drawing from his Caribbean roots and extensive experience in rock, jazz, gospel, and classical music, Christopher brings a diverse and well-rounded approach to his teaching. He believes that music should be both fun and educational, and he integrates multiple styles into his curriculum to keep lessons engaging and relevant.
Having learned to play by ear before studying formal notation, Christopher understands the challenges students face when learning music. He focuses on relating theory and concepts to real songs—both classical and contemporary—making complex topics approachable and enjoyable.
Christopher studied Jazz Guitar under Professor Kevin McNiel and Advanced Piano under Professor Hyun-Kyung Lee, both highly respected musicians and composers in New York. His goal as a teacher is to inspire students, simplify challenging concepts, and foster a lifelong love of music.
